Light PEV feeders with an open tray are the most common design in the catalog: 13 sizes cover a capacity range of 6 to 60 m³/h at a tray width of 180 to 700 mm. A tray with no lid or seals is simpler and cheaper to build than the covered version (PEVU), and its contents stay visible for inspection and maintenance during operation — no need to remove a cover to check how material is feeding.
This design suits most metering and conveying tasks for bulk and lump materials where dust containment, weather protection, or a sealed process are not critical: feeding hoppers and weighing dosers, discharging onto screens and into crushers, packaging and sorting lines, lab and pilot setups. Material lump size runs up to 160 mm on the largest models in the range, and the feeder's own mass runs from 32 to 410 kg depending on the size.
The drive is an electromagnetic single-stroke VEM-L1-L4: no rotating parts, bearings, or brushes to wear out the way they do on motor-vibrator drives, so the feeder needs almost no maintenance. Capacity is smoothly adjustable from zero to maximum right from the control cabinet or unit, with no process stop and no equipment swap.
If your material produces a fine dusting fraction, contains toxic or odorous components, or the process needs isolation from the environment and weather protection outdoors — consider a covered-tray feeder (PEVU) instead. The tray is made of structural steel; an abrasion-resistant lining is available for abrasive materials — composition and thickness are specified for your task when you place a request.
The feeder is mounted on a set of vibration isolators that damp oscillation transfer to the supporting structure — their number and rating are matched to the mass of the specific size; the operation manual details the requirements for the support frame and mounting. Power supply is the standard industrial 380 V, 50 Hz, as with every feeder in the PEV line.
This is the workhorse design at building-materials plants and in the grain and food industry: feeding crushed stone and bulk mixes for metering and packaging, and supplying weighing dosers on grain and feed packaging lines. See the industry pages for building materials and grain and food production for example tasks.

Start from the required capacity — it narrows the field: up to 15 m³/h is covered by the most compact models on a VEM-L1-L2 drive, while 25-60 m³/h calls for VEM-L3-L4 models with a wider, longer tray. Next check that the chosen model's tray width matches the hopper or chute opening the material will feed from, and that the material's lump size does not exceed the maximum rated for that size. If no catalog model fits your combination of parameters, describe the task via the request form and we will engineer a custom feeder.
A PEV has no lid — the material stays visible and accessible for maintenance during operation, and the feeder is simpler and cheaper to build. A PEVU (covered tray) adds a cover and is used where the material dusts, is sensitive to precipitation, or the process needs a sealed tray.
Yes, provided the material tolerates precipitation and moisture on the tray does not affect the process. If that matters, consider a PEVU design instead, or discuss a specific climate design version when you place your order.
Very little: the drive has no rotating parts, bearings, or brushes. Periodic checks cover fasteners, the condition of the vibration isolators, and electrical connections — the operation manual has a detailed checklist.
We do not publish prices on the site — the cost of a feeder is calculated individually for each task. It depends on:
Open or enclosed (PEVU), with or without an abrasion-resistant lining.
Carbon or stainless steel, rubber/polyurethane lining for wear resistance.
ШУВ cabinet or БУВ unit, IP rating, analog control input.
Indoor, outdoor or sheltered installation.
A single unit or a series — affects both lead time and cost.
Self-pickup from our Saint Petersburg warehouse or a carrier, across Russia and the CIS.
